Held on the second Thursday of each month, The BritCham Sundowner is one of my regular networking events, and never fails to impress. With a wide mix of occupations, a well thought out venue and good organization, this is one of the better networking events in town. The venue, Mesa and Manifesto, is located on Julu Lu, by Fumin Lu and offers a spacious bar with a capacity of 250 people and excellent canapes, the latter vital for those of us who exist on an all-canape diet. The closest metro stop is Shaanxi Nan Lu on line 1. Value for money is par for the course, with 120 RMB giving you entry plus two free drinks and a shot at winning some wine in the prize draw. Of course, the most important reason to go to any networking event is to meet people. BritCham offered a diverse mix, with a few Malaysians, Japanese and Kiwis amongst the largely British crowd. Industry-wise, relocation and insurance were well represented, and HR, F&B, law and educational organizations were also present, along with a big mix of that wonderful catch-all, "other." In terms of positions, there were a lot of managers and directors, with a few sales people and consultants thrown in too. Cards collected: 16Familiar faces: 5
Place: Mesa & Manifesto, 748 JuLu Lu
